Current Research
My current research has been focused increasingly on student learning in microbiology. We investigate student perspectives of the online learning environment, student use of primary literature in interdisciplinary science and humanities courses, and evaluate course based undergraduate research experiences.
This work is primarily focused on the microbiology program with colleagues and students from our undergraduate courses: MB351 General Microbiology lecture, MB352 General Microbiology laboratory, MB360 At the Bench: Scientific Inquiry in Microbiology: At the Bench, Crowdsourcing Antibiotic Discovery, and MB200 The Fourth Horseman: Plagues that Changed the World.
